In Vidal's, "Drugs," the first paragraph was extremely catchy. At first glance I thought there was no way he could ever support and back up the legalization of drugs. I have always been opposed to drugs and I never thought I would ever agree with the legalization of them. Vidal believes that if you make all drugs available, sell them at cost, and label each with the description of effects, then you could possibly stop most drug addictions in the United States. He seems very sarcastic but I think he means to be sincere about all of it. Vidal also states that he has tried every drug at least once and has liked none. Vidal supports his views with this statement "Last year when the supply of Mexican marijuana was slightly curtailed by the feds, the pushers got the kids hooked on heroin and deaths increased dramatically, particularly in New York." He contacted the San Francisco Coroner and he found out that infections from contaminated intravenous injections were the only cause of drug related deaths in addition to a few overdoses.
